Glee Season 3 so far
Last night, our favorite gaggle of misfit musicians returned to us in the season premiere of Glee. While a few fan favorite faces were missing, from the way things kicked off, we have a feeling Ryan Murphy wasn’t lying when he promised the show would be “getting back to basics.” We were not disappointed.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! IF GLEE IS STILL ON YOUR DVR, SCROLL AWAY!
By now, the world is aware that this is many of the kids’ senior years. Revealed to be juniors were former lovers Tina and Artie. The rest of the gang are grilled by the school’s resident gossipmonger, Jacob Ben-Israel, about their futures. Rachel and Kurt are hell bent on the Great White Way, Finn remains undecided and Santana wants to be Paula Abdul. Can’t say we blame her.
But while no one is quite sure where their futures lie, the kids all agree that losing Nationals was a pretty hefty blow. In a creative twist to lure in new members (and maybe work out some sexual frustration), Mr. Schue, who is now living with Emma, launches the Purple Piano Project. He has some of Liberace’s ivories scattered around the school, in hopes that kids will get inspired to join Glee. When the New Directions perform a Go-Go’s classic to drum up some interest at lunch, they’re rewarded with spaghetti in their hair and less self-esteem than before. So, that didn’t work out.
Course, they wouldn’t have to con others to join the group if Kurt’s BF Blaine would just transfer to McKinley and Quinn would stop acting like a “skank”, which coincidently is the name of her new group of friends. Think of them as like the Pink Ladies – except they’re dirtier and Rizzo actually did get knocked up . Quinn’s got some soul searching to do, but considering her creeper appearance in the shadows while the group performed a Hairspray number, we don’t think she will be gone for long. Oh, by the way, Blaine does transfer to McKinley before the episode is out. And girl, when Darren Criss started singing It’s Not Unusual, our loins were as flaming as that damn piano! HOT DAMN! Move over Tom-Tom Girls, the Crissy Cats are here!
As we mentioned, Kurt and Rachel want to scurry off to live every theater kid’s dream in New York City. Since Glee’s writing team actually pays attention and knows Julliard doesn’t have a musical theater program, Hummelberry is pointed in the direction of a more, shall we say, “fictional school” that is rated the top performing arts college in the country. They decide to scope out the competition at a mixer for prospective students, but instead, they are bombarded by a group of thespians, led by Glee Project runner-up Lindsay Pearce, who have no intention of letting McKinely’s finest steal their spotlight. With one two-minute mash-up of Anything Goes/Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better, Rachel and Kurt are crushed. But like true divas, they pick each other up and vow to keep going strong. Kurt’s speech to Rachel was one of our favorite moments of the episode. You make us want to be your boyfriend too Kurt - because then we could have a ménage à trois with Blaine! LOL!
As we mentioned previously, Santana gets thrown out of the club when it’s clear she is still willing to sabotage the group in the name of Sue Sylvester. Speaking of which, Sue is out to get rid of all public art school programs as part of her Congressional campaign. She’s got some legwork ahead of her, but her scheming was just as delicious as always. We’d also be remiss if we didn't mention our love for Sugar Motta and her “self-diagnosed” aspergers. Now THAT is a scene stealer!
Overall, we give this episode 10 gay-high fives! The music was perfect, the cast was on their game and for an hour, we forgot all our woes and worries and just reveled in the joy of Glee… and Darren’s face.

Coldplay tour dates
Coldplay have announced plans to perform a handful of arena tour dates later this year.
The band will play three dates in December following the release of their fifth studio album Mylo Xyloto on October 24.
Coldplay will appear at Glasgow's SECC on December 3 and Manchester's MEN the following night on December 4.
They will then conclude the trio of shows at London's O2 Arena on December 9. Tickets for the gigs will go on sale on September 23 at 9.30am.
