Kate winslett

Kate Winslet has spoken about her escape from the fire which devastated Sir Richard Branson's luxury Caribbean home.
The actress was among 20 people who fled The Great House on Necker Island as it was razed to the ground on Monday.

Winslet, whose two children also escaped from the burning property, said: "I'm just so glad that everyone is safe - and this very easily could not have been the case."

Speaking for the first time since the incident she added: "I will never forget Richard placing his arms around both my children as we were there watching the flames."

She said he told her: "At the end of the day, what you realise is that all that matters is the people you love. Everything else is just stuff. And none of that stuff really matters."
